Catching Up To Tulsi
by Dr. Sophie Lewis

As a medical practitioner and expert witness in child abuse cases, Dr. Sophie Lewis dealt with traumatized children on a daily basis—but none of her experience could prepare her for the dawning realization that her own child, Tulsi, had been molested by a close family member. The story that follows details the failures of Australia's child protection services as well as those of the psychological community, as Dr. Lewis finds herself battling them both while trying to work through the emotional fallout surrounding a severely traumatized child.

As the secrets and repressed images of Tulsi's ordeal come forth in lyrical, painful fragments, Dr. Lewis learns something even worse: the legal system is set up more to protect the rights of a molester than it is to protect the abused. But with regards to the damage that's been done, how is a mother to legally keep child and father separated—especially when the court system seems bent on putting them together?

"I have read many, many books on child abuse, but yours is the most beautifully written and sensitive to date. I couldn't put it down until I finished it."
Professor Freda Briggs, Emeritus Professor of Child Development, University of South Australia
