The Charge of the Light Brigade
by Robert Powyszynski, Sr.

Countless literature had been written about the Charge of the Light Brigade, a military strategy blunder by the British military during the Crimean War on October 25, 1854. While it may somewhat put Britain in a shameful situation, it was still considered an act of heroism on the part of the soldiers involved, both of those who died and those who survived. The most famous of the literature telling the tale of bravery and tragedy was the poem written by Lord Alfred Tennyson.

In his book, The Charge of the Light Brigade, Robert Powyszynski, Sr., used the verses of Lord Tennysons poem to interpret and relate some to the events that transpired during the charge of the Light Brigade for, in his opinion, it was based mostly on the report of William H. Russell in The Times of London, an eyewitness account. Based on the facts he gathered, he expressed his own view of what probably caused the mishandling of the command and the person to blame in the failure of strategy that first started as a failure of communication.
