by Adrien Balzano

From Out of Red Hook depicts the trials and tribulations faced by the DelFinnis, an Italian-American family living in the heart of South Brooklyn during the late 1970s, who must conceal an enormous secret in order to save the life of an abused teenage girl. The “neighborhood” takes no backseat to the other main characters in this urban/ethnic thriller. It lives and creates an atmosphere that is familiar, amusing, heartwarming, and sometimes violent. The characters in this multifaceted story take on a uniqueness that carries a certain tone, enticing the reader to keep turning the page. Once you’ve met them, you understand who they are, what distinguishes them, but moreover, what binds them together and to the rest of us.

Adrien Balzano graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a degree in art and studied graphic design at the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale. As a native of Brooklyn, New York, she was always fascinated by the old neighborhood and its history, which compelled her to set her story in Red Hook. She presently is employed as a graphic designer and resides in Florida, where she continues to write and is working on her next novel.
