GRANDMA'S BACK TO BASICS ALL NATURAL MORE THAN JUST A COOKBOOK, March 1, 2010 By Lynda Coker (Texas, USA) - Amazon
Get ready for some good, down-home recipes that you'll enjoy cooking and eating. I was delighted to find many of the dishes I enjoyed as a child in this cookbook. Both my Grandmother and Mother were great cooks. When they stepped into the kitchen, you knew you were in for a tasty meal. Sometimes the aromas would drive us kids crazy, especially when they were making molasses cookies, one of my favorites. You must try the recipe in this cookbook, it's exceptional.
My family has always enjoyed gravy and sauces with their meals. I discovered some really good ones in this cookbook. Try the Apricot sauce, Caramel sauce, and the Marshmallow sauce, so good!
I appreciated the author's explanation of her inspiration for this cookbook. Suffering from extreme food allergies forced her to go back to the basics, when processed foods with their additives, preservative, etc., were not on the grocery store shelf or the dinner table. Another thing you'll appreciate is that the substitutions and options are not foreign or exotic choices but things easily purchased and used. With 280 pages, I found many recipes that I'm going to incorporate into my menus. We could all benefit from eating healthier, and Teresa Thompson's cookbook is a good place to start.
