A former grade school teacher, the author uses the art of storytelling to portray the common experiences, struggles, and disappointments that face pre-teens in the inner city. Each of the eleven stories proves that life is a learning process and that its roadblocks do not have to overwhelm us. The characters from twelve-year-old Hattie Bell Crosby, whose fear of ghosts keeps her from spending the night at her grandmothers house, to Curly Tee Wakefield, a nine-year-old boy with a terrible secret all come head to head with lifes problems. But they learn to cope with and even overcome them, and in the process come to understand the value of communication, cooperation, patience, and faith. About the Author: A retired grade-school teacher, Mary Williams has a master of arts in elementary education and administration. A native of Lebanon, Tennessee, she has lived in Nashville for forty-six years where she was a teacher for the Metro Nashville Schools. She and her husband have raised two children.
